Reigning Olympic, world and Diamond League champion Hamish Kerr will launch his Diamond Trophy defence against fellow high jump superstar Gianmarco Tamberi in Silesia on August 23.
New Zealand athlete Kerr is the undisputed world number one in the men’s high jump after winning Olympic gold in 2024 and the world and Diamond League titles in 2025.
He will make his first Diamond League appearance of the season in Silesia, where he lines up alongside former Olympic and Diamond League champion Tamberi.
The charismatic Italian is chasing his first Diamond League win since he last won the series title in Brussels in 2024.
Kerr took victory in Silesia last season with a season’s best of 2.33m, before going on to win his first Diamond League title in Zurich.
Silesia is the 13th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
