The two best 800m runners in the world will resume their enthralling rivalry when Keely Hodgkinson takes on Audrey Werro at the Zurich leg of the Wanda Diamond League next week.
Hodgkinson and Werro will face off for the third time this season in Zurich in the latest chapter of an enthralling battle for supremacy over two laps.
Reigning Olympic champion Hodgkinson is the world number one, but has had to play second fiddle to Werro this season after struggling with injury in recent years.
The British star broke a national record at the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm in June, but finished second behind Werro, who became the third-fastest woman in history with a series record of 1:53.98.
The Swiss later improved on that record in Paris before beating Hodgkinson to gold at the European Championships in Birmingham last week.
Having won the Diamond League title in Zurich last season, Werro will be out to delight the home crowd again as she takes on her biggest rival at Weltklasse.
Zurich is the 14th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
