Odira takes on Werro and Broeders-Bol in Lausanne

World 800m champion Lilian Odira will face in-form Swiss star Audrey Werro and Femke Broeders-Bol at the Lausanne leg of the Wanda Diamond League.

Kenyan world champion Lilian Odira is the latest in a string of a major global stars to sign up for the women’s 800m at the Athletissima Wanda Diamond League meeting in Lausanne on August 21.

Odira joins current world leader Audrey Werro and Dutch star Femke Broeders-Bol on a star-studded line-up over two laps

The Kenyan is hoping to build on her Diamond League victory over world number one Keely Hodgkinson in Eugene last month, which was her first on athletics’ premier one-day circuit.

She faces a stern test against Werro and Broeders-Bol, who have both impressed at several Diamond League meetings this year.

Reigning series champion Werro broke Diamond League records in Stockholm and Paris, becoming the third-fastest woman in history in the process.

Broeders-Bol, who switched from the 400m hurdles to the 800m only this season, has already notched up two second place finishes in Paris and London.

Athletissima will also see a world-class women’s javelin field that includes two-time world U20 champion Adriana Vilagoš take on Norway’s Sigrid Borge and the USA’s Madison Wiltrout.

Lausanne is the 12th leg of the 2026 Wanda Diamond League, which began in Shanghai/Keqiao on May 16 and ends at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.

The series unites the biggest names in track and field in some of the world’s most iconic arenas, crossing four continents and 15 cities over the course of the season.
